Rev. Bishop Gabriel S. Innis is founder the Body of Christ International Mission. He and his wife Sarah were married in April,1976, and have six children.
Bishop Innis' Testimony:
During the civil war in 1990 in Liberia one of our children, Formah, died from starvation in my hand while crying for something to eat. I cried out to God to save the rest of my family and myself. The Lord heard our prayer and He answered us. As I was crying for my daughter, I heard a voice speaking to me, "Gabriel, Romans 8:28 is still in the Holy book: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, and to them who are called according to His purpose."
The Lord saved our lives and took us to the Ivory Coast as refugees. In the Ivory Coast, 75% of the people are Muslims. The Lord gave me the opportunity to reach out to them by preaching the word of God and many came to know the Lord as their savior. From that time, I totally dedicated my life to God by reaching out to children who had lost their mother or father. I became a father to the fatherless and mother to the motherless, and to those who needed help in any way, I was a counselor.
As the Lord was blessing me through my prayer partners in the United States, I began to give scholarships and rent rooms to Liberian refugees in the Ivory Coast, sharing the love of God, telling them about the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ not to give up, that God was still on their side.
In my 25 years of serving the Lord as a pastor, my greatest achievement is not how much education I have, or how many churches and schools I have planted or how many people I brought to Christ. I thank God for these opportunities, but I will rather say that my greatest achievement was when I witnessed to my father on his death bed. I led him to Christ as his Lord personal Savior, the one I’m so proud of, the one who created me to be who am I today through His grace. I know that I will see him and my daughter in heaven when my time comes.
