This Blog shares information about our journey to becoming an inside-out church.

Last Sunday, we accepted two new members: Jason and Sharon Holland, and their children, Abbey (10) and Jordan (8). When you see them on Sunday mornings, please be sure to welcome them!

This Sunday is Palm Sunday (Mar. 28) and it's going to be a big day.  We are having one combined worship service with communion at 10:00am. The little ones (led by the Jr. High students) will come in waving the palms and we'll celebrate Jesus as our king. It's always fun to worship all together as a family and it also means our set up crew gets to sleep in an extra hour. Set-up begins at 8am this week only. Yay!

After the worship service, we'll have an informational meeting and tell you about the plans for the coming year. Our New Property Team will report on their progress. We'll also update you on how we are strengthening the ministries which we normally think of as internal: children, students, worship, etc.

Thanks to all of you who made the dessert auction a success last Sunday. We raised more money for our youth summer mission trips than we did last year. Way to go!

We're debuting a new email design this week. Please take a few minutes to reply and give Teresa some feedback so she can continue to tweak things.

Don't forget that Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend. That means we lose an hour of sleep on Saturday night. So, give God the glory. Set your clock back the night before and go to bed a little earlier. Wake up refreshed and ready to praise him.  God is worth it!

Hey all,

We are busy preparing to present visions and plans for our internal ministries at lifepath. Here are two ways you can help shape our future:

Parents of all kids, ages one to eighteen, there is a meeting for you on Sunday, March 14, at 6 pm at Calvary Community Church. The directors of our children and student ministries, Vinessa and Nicholas, will be proposing an overall discipleship plan for our kids. They are very excited about the vision and ideas for your kids but they want your input and feedback. Childcare will be provided for the meeting!

Are you not currently in a small group or Sunday morning adult class? Help us make our program better by taking this 3 minute survey:  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TNX7SNP

I've been listening to your feedback about our vision and future over the past couple of weeks. You've had some great questions and suggestions! The sermon this Sunday will focus on many of these things.

Blessings on your weekend!

Pastor Elliott

Thanks for the great congregational meeting last Sunday. We presented a ton of information, which may have been overwhelming and yet still not answered every question or concern you have. We received some questions on the note cards, which the Session looked over at our meeting on Wednesday. One of us will be calling each of you who submitted the question cards to make sure we understand you and to respond. I'd also love to meet with as many of the small groups and Sunday school classes as possible to listen to your feedback on our vision as we move forward.

Communication is always an effort and I want to make sure that I, the elders, and the staff are listening and not just talking. I appreciate any questions and I'm always happy to take questions directly via email or phone (281.855.0222) about our vision or anything else.

Things move too quickly for some and too sl ... Read More »

We're getting close to the end of our time of exploration on our vision to be a different kind of church. The next phase of our life together will see us "putting some meat on the bones" of the vision.

What will we be doing? What will we do for a building? Where will it be located? When will we start a capital fund campaign to begin raising resources for a building? What is our process for moving forward?

A week from this Sunday, January 31, at 10:00am we're having a congregational meeting to present our progress on answering these questions and listen to your response.

I know that one ongoing question is that with all the talk about becoming "inside-out," are we sacrificing our internal church life in order to focus on the community? The answer is that we are and will continue to be focused on worship, our children's program, ou ... Read More »

How are we doing in establishing relationships in the community? Here is a little feedback from the community:

Terry Meienberg, the volunteer coordinator at Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM), recently told us that Lifepath Church has become the third most involved church out of all the congregations that give their time and resources. Given that some of the other congregations are much larger and have had an involvement with CAM for far longer, she was very pleased with our efforts.

Also, a school district official has told us that our partnership with Tipps Elementary is becoming the ideal model for how schools and churches can work together in the community. We may even be asked to have a future role in shaping other church/school partnerships.

One of our current goals for establishing ourselves in the community is to develop a reputation that people can count us because we are a church that truly desires to make a di ... Read More »

On this last day of 2009, I want to tell you how proud I am to serve as your pastor. We've had a busy 2009 and made a lot of progress toward the vision God has given us as a church. Since August, we have been in a time of exploration for what it means to become an Inside-Out church. We have been learning about the needs  of the community, forging relationships with community leaders, getting involved in community ministries, and putting together a business plan for our church. For those of us involved in these things, the progress has been rapid, but the congregation is obviously ready for more. Someone said at our congregational meeting early in December, "It's like we're pregnant with this vision for a new kind of church and people are ready for the baby to be born." Well, the good news is that in 2010 we will see the new birth. This year we will see our commu ... Read More »

This Sunday – December 27 - we’re meeting at our normal times of 9:00 and 11:09 but we are not having our “Off the Hook” worship service. Instead, during our 11:09 service, I’ll be retelling the Christmas story with the help of the kids. Bring them to the worship service and we’ll  dress them up as angels, shepherds, Mary and Joseph and have some fun.

Oh, and don’t forget that we have a worship service Christmas Eve at 7:00pm at Calvary Community Church (7550 Cherry Park Drive, off Hwy 6, behind Taco Bell).  We’ll sing some of the traditional Christmas songs. I’ll preach a Christmas message. And then we’ll light the candles and sing “Silent Night.” Sound like a plan?

Merry Christmas,

Pastor Elliott
